Sporty and stylish: the Kodiaq gets the RS treatment
Compared to the first generation, the new Kodiaq RS is even sportier, thanks to its sophisticated design and technical upgrades. 195 kW of power is delivered by the popular 2.0 TSI EVO petrol engine – that’s 15 kW more than its predecessor. This enables the new Kodiaq RS with all-wheel drive and DSG automatic transmission to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds, and to keep accelerating till it tops off at 231 km/h.
It’s not just the 400 Nm of torque that drivers will enjoy – the overall handling is even better, as the new Kodiaq RS has both progressive steering and the advanced DCC+ adaptive chassis, which comes with a wider range of settings than in the first generation. In addition to Sport mode with precise handling, the driver can choose from a wide range of other suspension and handling settings: Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual and Snow. The Kodiaq RS even has a special Off-Road mode.
Sporty outside, sporty inside
But the car’s sporty credentials are evident elsewhere as well. The Dynamic Sound Boost function delivers a thrilling sound experience, while Škoda Design specialists have been hard at work on the car’s looks. The second-generation Kodiaq RS has all the typical glossy black RS elements, such as the radiator grille frame, exterior mirror caps, the upper part of the window frames, the roof rails and, most notably, the distinctive D-pillar bodywork that is characteristic of the second-generation Kodiaq. Details in the brand-new front bumper and the Škoda lettering on the fifth door are also finished in glossy black.
One head-turning new feature is the illuminated radiator grille, but the Kodiaq RS also gets new RS logos on its grille and on the fifth door. The RS version boasts exclusive wheel rims: 20-inch Elias rims come as standard, again with a glossy black finish. The brake calipers are finished in contrasting red. There are eight colour schemes for the bodywork to choose from, including the eye-catching Bronx Gold Metallic.
Moving inside the car, there are two versions to choose between. The standard trim is RS Suedia, while RS Suite is available as an option. In both trims, customers get sporty front seats with integrated head restraints and contrasting red stitching; in the Suedia version, the seats are upholstered in a combination of perforated Suedia material and leatherette, while natural leather distinguishes the RS Suite trim. The dashboard and door panels are also trimmed in the respective material for each variant.
Other sporty details include the multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel (also with red stitching), the steel pedal surfaces and the black headliner. The RS logo is also proudly displayed inside the car, for example on the infotainment display.
A wealth of equipment
The second-generation Kodiaq RS comes with a lavish array of equipment. A 10-inch virtual cockpit comes as standard, while the infotainment display is 13 inches. The sports seats always have electric controls, with heating and memory functions, and ventilation enhances the RS Suite seats. The rear seats are heated. And the Canton sound system delivers a fantastic audio experience for all the car’s occupants.
Advanced features such as KESSY Advanced system with automatic unlocking and locking of the car when the driver approaches or moves away from the car come as standard; the high-tech Matrix-LED beam headlights greet the driver with light animations when the car is unlocked. The DCC+ adaptive chassis control is another feature customers will love.
