Autocar Road Test 2009
Leading motoring magazine Autocar is packed with Škoda coverage this week. From the editorial comment to a Yeti first drive and more, it seems the magazine just can't get enough of us.
Editor Chas Hallett says: "Škoda is easily the most impressive VW Group brand right now. Look down its line-up and every model it sells is excellent. There's a lot more to come, too."
The magazine's First Drives section features a review of the 1.2 TSI version of the Yeti. "This is one of the best real-world vehicles around - and the entry-level 1.2 TSI is an energetic and refined motor," it says.
The car tested was fitted with the optional seven-speed gearbox. "It's a smooth, unobtrusive transmission," says Autocar. The magazine goes on to praise the Yeti's "excellent blend of ride and handling" and calls the 1.2 unit "a rewarding engine to work around urban roads and even on motorways."
Autocar's long-term Superb also comes in for praise this week. "While our Superb recently sailed through the 25,000-mile mark (after just 10 months) it's still living up to its name," says reviewer Stuart Price. "Mechanically, it still feels tight and robust, and it's standing up pretty well cosmetically."
