5 Stars goes to....

What Car? has awarded the facelifted Octavia Estate the full five stars in its first review of the car. It's extremely rare for What Car? to award a car five stars, so receiving such a glowing recommendation is a fantastic achievement for Škoda.

Škoda UK Head of Marketing Mary Newcombe said: "We're very proud, though not surprised, that What Car? has awarded the new Octavia Estate five stars. We know how rare it is for the magazine to rate a car this highly, so this is proof of how good the new Octavia is. Reviews like this show buyers that if they're looking for a truly excellent estate car at a great value-for-money price, the Octavia is the obvious choice."

What Car? Group Editor Steve Fowler told Desktop: "On What Car? we are extremely rigorous in our testing and to get five stars is a very significant achievement. This is a very coveted award, and it indicates how impressed our testers were with the face-lifted Octavia."

The magazine tested the 1.4 TSI version of the Octavia Estate, which it called "a complete car". The reviewer liked the Octavia's combination of a new "funkier" design with the car's "core values" of simplicity, practicality and space. The reviewer was particularly impressed with the new turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine, which replaces the old model's 1.6-litre engine. The easy-to-use controls, "supple" ride and stable handling were also praised.
