Brief History of Wings
From the day Paul Wing left school he had a passion for the motor industry. He started at the grass roots as an apprentice mechanic and quickly qualified as a technician both in light and heavy goods vehicles with Cambridgeshire County Council.
As his experience grew so did his desire to learn about all aspects of the industry. This was noticed by a local garage proprietor Carl Porter of Colt Cars in March, Cambridgeshire. With his ambition to progress Paul decided to accept a second job working for Carl Porter at the weekends to gain front of house sales experience. This sparked a new vain of interest and Carl was quick to offer a full time position. After several years of gaining valued experience working alongside Carl, Paul decided to seek a new challenge at the largest dealership of it's time, Peterborough Motors.
Paul's time at Peterborough Motors saw him take on a varied role within the sales department. Still with the passion to further himself and seeing ways in which he could improve customers' experiences Paul made the decision that he wanted to tread his own path. In 1990 Paul discovered an opportunity to build his dream on an existing site at Fleet Road Garage, Holbeach. This was the start of Paul's long relationship with Skoda. After a tremendously successful decade promoting Skoda and providing the after sales service Paul thought the customers deserved, he was approached by Skoda to become a figure head for their brand expanding to a larger and more central site in the city of Peterborough.
Joined by his son Justin in 1999, Wings built the first purpose built and stand-alone Skoda Centre in the UK. Since then Wings has gone from strength to strength, using the modern premises and state of the art facilities to achieve the high levels of customer service that Paul always strived for. This has been confirmed by Wings' presence in the finals of the Skoda 'Retailer of the Year' awards for the last 3 consecutive years (even more impressive when you consider this annual event only began 3 years ago). Paul proudly displays his awards in his showroom, a constant reminder of the mantra that got him where he is today & as a promise to customers that their satisfaction is paramount to the success of our business.
